संख्याता बहु वृत्तान्ताः शलॊकाग्रं चात्र शस्यते तरीणि शलॊकसहस्राणि दवे शते विंशतिस तथा मुनिना संप्रणीतानि कौरवाणां यशॊ भृताम ।। १-२-१७७ ।।

' The sections are numerous, and the stories are extensive. Here, the total count of shlokas is three thousand two hundred, with two hundred and twenty being told in two hundred chapters. This has been accurately determined by the wise sage and illustrious narrator among the Kauravas.' ।। 1-2-177 ।।

saMkhyAtA bahu vRttAntAH zalòkAgraM cAtra zasyate tarINi zalòkasahasrANi dave zate viMzatisa tathA muninA saMpraNItAni kauravANAM yazò bhRtAma || 1-2-177 ||
