[स] आयुस्यम इदम आख्यानम आस्तीकं कथयामि ते यथा शरुतं कथयतः सकाशाद वै पितुर मया ॥ १-१४-४ ॥

sanskrit

'Sauti said, "O venerable one endowed with longevity, allow me to recount the tale of Astika as I received it from my father. Kindly lend your ears to this narrative, as it unfolded in the grand serpent sacrifice of King Janamejaya."'॥ 1-14-4 ॥

english translation

[sa] Ayusyama idama AkhyAnama AstIkaM kathayAmi te yathA zarutaM kathayataH sakAzAda vai pitura mayA ॥ 1-14-4 ॥
