[वै] विदुरस्य सुहृत कश चित खनकः कुशलः कव चित विविक्ते पाण्डवान राजन्न इदं वचनम अब्रवीत ॥ १-१३५-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "Some expert well-wisher, skilled in disguise, should discreetly convey this message to the Pandavas, O King."' ॥ 1-135-1 ॥

परहितॊ विदुरेणास्मि खनकः कुशलॊ भृशम पाण्डवानां परियं कार्यम इति किं करवाणि वः ॥ १-१३५-२ ॥
'I come on behalf of Vidura, skilled in various arts, including mining. I am here to assist the Pandavas. Please tell me how I may be of service to you.' ॥ 1-135-2 ॥

परच्छन्नं विदुरेणॊक्तः शरेयस तवम इह पाण्डवान परतिपादय विश्वासाद इति किं करवाणि वः ॥ १-१३५-३ ॥
'Vidura, having entrusted me with his confidence, instructed me: 'Go to the Pandavas and ensure their well-being.'' ॥ 1-135-3 ॥

कृष्णपक्षे चतुर्दश्यां रात्राव अस्य पुरॊचनः भवनस्य तव दवारि परदास्यति हुताशनम ॥ १-१३५-४ ॥
'On the fourteenth night of the dark fortnight, Purochana will set fire to your house by its doors.' ॥ 1-135-4 ॥

मात्रा सह परदग्धव्याः पाण्डवाः पुरुषर्षभाः इति वयवसितं पार्थ धार्तराष्ट्रस्य मे शरुतम ॥ १-१३५-५ ॥
'The evil intention of Dhritarashtra's son is to burn to death those valiant men, the Pandavas, along with their mother.' ॥ 1-135-5 ॥
