तथैव हृष्टवदनस तथैवादीन मानसः छित्त्वाविचार्य तं परादाद दरॊणायाङ्गुष्ठम आत्मनः ॥ १-१२३-३७ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'Upon hearing Drona's harsh demand for his thumb as tuition fee, Ekalavya, steadfast in truth and committed to fulfilling his promise, without hesitation or affliction, cheerfully cut off his thumb and offered it to Drona.' ॥ 1-123-37 ॥
