'Moved by compassion upon seeing them, the king said, "Let these children become mine."' ।। 1-120-16 ।।

ततः संवर्धयाम आस संस्कारैश चाप्य अयॊजयत गौतमॊ ऽपि तदापेत्य धनुर्वेद परॊ ऽभवत ।। १-१२०-१७ ।।

'Then he raised and nurtured them with proper rituals. Gautama also, after attaining maturity, became proficient in the science of arms.' ।। 1-120-17 ।।

tataH saMvardhayAma Asa saMskAraiza cApya ayòjayata gautamò 'pi tadApetya dhanurveda parò 'bhavata || 1-120-17 ||

कृपया यन मया बालाव इमौ संवर्धिताव इति तस्मात तयॊर नाम चक्रे तद एव स महीपतिः ।। १-१२०-१८ ।।

'Moved by compassion, Shantanu expressed, "Since I have nurtured these children, let their names reflect it." Hence, the king bestowed names upon them.' ।। 1-120-18 ।।

निहितौ गौतमस तत्र तपसा ताव अविन्दत आगम्य चास्मै गॊत्रादि सर्वम आख्यातवांस तदा ।। १-१२०-१९ ।।

'Having returned to the hermitage, Gautama realized the situation through his tapasya. Upon his arrival, he narrated everything to them, including their lineage and ancestry.' ।। 1-120-19 ।।

चतुर्विधं धनुर्वेदम अस्त्राणि विविधानि च निखिलेनास्य तत सर्वं गुह्यम आख्यातवांस तदा सॊ ऽचिरेणैव कालेन परमाचार्यतां गतः ।। १-१२०-२० ।।

'He then quickly instructed them in all aspects of the fourfold archery and various kinds of weapons, revealing to them all the secrets. In due course, he attained the status of their supreme teacher.' ।। 1-120-20 ।।

caturvidhaM dhanurvedama astrANi vividhAni ca nikhilenAsya tata sarvaM guhyama AkhyAtavAMsa tadA sò 'cireNaiva kAlena paramAcAryatAM gataH || 1-120-20 ||
