उवाच चैनं भगवान रुरुः संशमयन्न इव कामया भुजग बरूहि कॊ ऽसीमां विक्रियां गतः ॥ १-१०-६ ॥
'Ruru, endowed with the six attributes, consoled the snake and inquired, "Reveal your true identity, O serpent, and explain the cause of your transformation."'॥ 1-10-6 ॥
english translation
अहं पुरा रुरॊ नाम्ना ऋषिर आसं सहस्रपात सॊ ऽहं शापेन विप्रस्य भुजगत्वम उपागतः ॥ १-१०-७ ॥
'And the Dundubha replied, 'O Ruru! I was formerly a Rishi by name Sahasrapat. And it is by the curse of a Brahmana that I have been transformed into a snake.'॥ 1-10-7 ॥
english translation
किमर्थं शप्तवान करुद्धॊ दविजस तवां भुजगॊत्तम कियन्तं चैव कालं ते वपुर एतद भविष्यति ॥ १-१०-८ ॥
'Ruru inquired, "O noble serpent, why did a Brahmana curse you in anger? And for how long will you remain in this transformed state?'॥ 1-10-8 ॥
