यदाश्रौषं चास्मदीयान महारथान; वयवस्थितान अर्जुनस्यान्तकाय संसप्तकान निहतान अर्जुनेन; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ॥ १-१-१३१ ॥
'When I heard that the Maharatha Sansaptakas of our army appointed for the overthrow of Arjuna were all slain by Arjuna himself, then, O Sanjaya, I had no hope of success.' ॥ 1-1-131 ॥
