कुरूणां पाण्डवानां च भवान परत्यक्षदर्शिवान तेषां चरितम इच्छामि कथ्यमानं तवया दविज ॥ १-५४-१८ ॥
'O Brahmana, thou hast seen with thy own eyes the acts of the Kurus and the Pandavas. I am desirous of hearing thee recite their history.' ॥ 1-54-18 ॥
