शिवपुराणम्

Shiva Purana

उमा संहिता

Umā-Saṃhitā

Uma-Saṃhitā, the fifth saṃhitā of the Śiva Purāṇa, is a devotional-theological chapter centered on Umā (Pārvatī), consort of Śiva. Formed through medieval redaction and oral tradition, it preserves dialogues, myths of courtship, tapas and marriage, and teachings on Śakti–Śiva union. Key themes include the grace of the Goddess, the balance of asceticism and domestic life, rites and iconography, and metaphysical unity of energy and consciousness. Rich in ritual instruction and bhakti poetry, it shaped medieval temple practice and Shakta devotion. Today Uma-Saṃhitā speaks to seekers and scholars alike—illuminating feminine divinity, ethical devotion, and the perennial marriage of power and wisdom in spiritual life.
