महेश्वरी महाकाली महाग्रासा महाशना । अपर्णा चण्डिका चण्डमुण्डासुर-निषूदिनी ॥ १४५॥
The Goddess is Maheshwari, the divine power of Lord Shiva. She is Mahakali, beyond time itself. She devours all at the time of dissolution and possesses an immense, cosmic appetite. She is Aparna, the embodiment of intense austerity, and Chandika, the fierce one who destroyed the demons Chanda and Munda.

देवी महेश्वरी हैं, अर्थात भगवान शिव की शक्ति स्वरूपा हैं। वे महाकाली हैं, जो काल से भी परे हैं। वे सबको अपने भीतर समेट लेने वाली (महाग्रासा) और महान भक्षक (महाशना) हैं। वे अपर्णा हैं, तपस्या की मूर्ति। वे चण्डिका हैं और चण्ड-मुण्ड नामक असुरों का संहार करने वाली हैं।
