यदि मे राघवः कुर्याद्वनम् गच्चेति चोदितः । प्रतिकूलम् प्रियम् मे स्यान्न तु वत्सः करिष्यति ॥ २-१२-८६
If this scion of the Raghu race (Rama) acts against my order ( urged to go to the forest ), it will be welcome but my son will not do it. [2-12-86]
english translation
शुद्धिभावो हि भावम् मे न तु ज्ञास्यति राघवः ॥ २-१२-८७ स वनम् प्रव्रजे त्युक्तोबाढ वित्येव वक्ष्यति ॥ २-१२-८७
The descendant of the Raghus (Rama) who is pure in thought will not come to know my intention. Therefore if I tell him 'Go to the forest,' he will say, 'Certainly so'. [2-12-87]
english translation
राघवे हि वनम् प्राप्ते सर्वलोकस्य धिक्कृतम् । मृत्युरक्षमणीयम् माम् नयिष्यति यमक्षयम् ॥ २-१२-८८
If Rama goes to the forest, the god of death will conduct me to his abode, for condemned by the entire world, I shall not be forgiven (even by Yama). [2-12-88]
english translation
मृते मयि गते रामे वनम् मनुजपुङ्गवे । इष्टे मम जने शेषे किम् पापम् प्रतिवत्स्यसे ॥ २-१२-८९
With me dead and Rama, the best among men, banished, what harmful acts are you contemplating against my well wishers ( Kaushalya and others )? [2-12-89]
english translation
कौसल्या माम् च रामम् च पुत्रौ च यदि हास्यति । दुःखान्यसहती देवी मामेवानुमरिष्यति ॥ २-१२-९०
If queen Kaushalya loses me, Rama, Lakshmana and Shatrughna will follow me into death, unable to bear the grief. [2-12-90]
