यस्याः प्रसादे जीवामि या च मामभ्यपालयत् । तस्याः कृतम् मया मिथ्या कैकेय्या इति वक्ष्यसि ॥ २-१२-४१
Will you say, 'To such a Kaikeyi by whose mercy I am alive and by whom I was protected, I have broken the promise given'? [2-12-41]
english translation
yasyAH prasAde jIvAmi yA ca mAmabhyapAlayat । tasyAH kRtam mayA mithyA kaikeyyA iti vakSyasi ॥ 2-12-41
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकिल्बिषम् नरेन्ध्राणाम् करिष्यसि नराधिप । यो दत्त्वा वरमद्यैव पुनरन्यानि भाषसे ॥ २-१२-४२
Oh ! king, right now having given two boons, you are speaking otherwise. You are bringing blemish to kings (of the Ikshwaku race). [2-12-42]
english translation
kilbiSam narendhrANAm kariSyasi narAdhipa । yo dattvA varamadyaiva punaranyAni bhASase ॥ 2-12-42
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशैब्यः श्येनकपोतीये स्वमांसं पक्षिते ददौ । अलर्कश्चक्षुषी दत्वा जगाम गतिमुत्तमाम् ॥ २-१२-४३
(King) Shaibya gave his own flesh to the hawk in the conflict between the hawk and the pigeon ( to save pigeon ). (King) Alarka gave his eyes (to a blind man) and attained the highest state. [2-12-43]
english translation
zaibyaH zyenakapotIye svamAMsaM pakSite dadau । alarkazcakSuSI datvA jagAma gatimuttamAm ॥ 2-12-43
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसागरः समयम् कृत्वान वेलामतिवर्तते । समयम् माऽनृतम् कार्षीः पुर्ववृत्तमनुस्मरन् ॥ २-१२-४४
Having made the vow (to the gods), the ocean does not advance beyond the shore. Recollect the history of the earlier kings and do not make the vow false. [2-12-43]
english translation
sAgaraH samayam kRtvAna velAmativartate । samayam mA'nRtam kArSIH purvavRttamanusmaran ॥ 2-12-44
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस त्वम् धर्मम् परित्यज्य रामम् राज्येऽभिषिच्यच । सह कौलस्यया नित्यम् रन्तुमिच्छसि दुर्मते ॥ २-१२-४५
Oh ! wicked minded one, deserting righteousness and installing Rama in the kingdom, you want to enjoy life with Kausalya ever after? [2-12-45]
english translation
sa tvam dharmam parityajya rAmam rAjye'bhiSicyaca । saha kaulasyayA nityam rantumicchasi durmate ॥ 2-12-45
