शिरसा त्वाऽभियाचेऽहं कुरुष्व करुणां मयि | बान्धवेषु च सर्वेषु भूतेष्विव महेश्वरः || २-१०६-३१

sanskrit

I beseech you with my head bowed low, show mercy on me and every one of our relations, like Maheswara showing compassion on all living beings. [2-106-31]

english translation

zirasA tvA'bhiyAce'haM kuruSva karuNAM mayi | bAndhaveSu ca sarveSu bhUteSviva mahezvaraH || 2-106-31

hk transliteration

अथैतत्पृष्ठतः कृत्वा वनमेव भवानितः | गमिष्यति गमिष्यामि भवता सार्धमप्यहम् || २-१०६-३२

sanskrit

If you turn your back on my solicitations and set out for the forest I shall also go along with you from here itself.' [2-106-32]

english translation

athaitatpRSThataH kRtvA vanameva bhavAnitaH | gamiSyati gamiSyAmi bhavatA sArdhamapyaham || 2-106-32

hk transliteration

तथाहि रामो भरतेन ताम्यता प्रसाद्यमानः शिरसा महीपतिः | नचैव चक्रे गमनाय सत्त्ववान्मतिं पितुस्तद्वचने प्रतिष्ठितः || २-१०६-३३

Thus besought and propitiated by Bharata with his head bowed low and distressed, the virtuous lord of the world, Rama, firmly established in the words of his father, resolved not to go back to Ayodhya. [2-106-33]

english translation

tathAhi rAmo bharatena tAmyatA prasAdyamAnaH zirasA mahIpatiH | nacaiva cakre gamanAya sattvavAnmatiM pitustadvacane pratiSThitaH || 2-106-33

तदद्भुतं स्थैर्यमवेक्ष्य राघवे समं जनो हर्षमवाप दुःखितः | न यात्ययोध्यामिति दुःखितोऽभवत् स्थिरप्रतिज्ञत्वमवेक्ष्य हर्षितः || २-१०६-३४

Having seen the wonderful deternmination of Rama, people were, at once, anguished and delighted, anguished because he would not return to Ayodhya, and delighted because he was firm in his resolve. [2-106-34]

english translation

tadadbhutaM sthairyamavekSya rAghave samaM jano harSamavApa duHkhitaH | na yAtyayodhyAmiti duHkhito'bhavat sthirapratijJatvamavekSya harSitaH || 2-106-34

hk transliteration

तमृत्विजो नैगमयूथवल्लभास्तदा विसंज्ञाश्रुकलाश्च मातरः | तथा ब्रुवाणं भरतं प्रतुष्टुवुः प्रणम्य रामं च ययाचिरे सह || २-१०६-३५

sanskrit

All the priests, the chiefs of merchant organizations and mothers who had their senses switched off and theif tears drained dry extolled Bharata for his words. All of them, reverentially saluting Rama, implored him. [2-106-35]

english translation

tamRtvijo naigamayUthavallabhAstadA visaMjJAzrukalAzca mAtaraH | tathA bruvANaM bharataM pratuSTuvuH praNamya rAmaM ca yayAcire saha || 2-106-35
