देव देवी भृशं कृद्धा क्रोधागारमभिद्रुता । प्रतीहार्या वचः श्रुत्वा राजा परमदुर्मनाः ॥ २-१०-२१

- 'Oh, king! The queen ran to her chamber of wrath with much anger'. Hearing the words of the doorkeeper, the melancholic king . - [2-10-21]

english translation

विषसाद पुनर्भुयो लुलितव्याकुलेन्ध्रियः । तत्रतां पतितां भूमौ शयानामतथोचिताम् ॥ २-१०-२२

- grieved all the more with his senses agitated and unstable. Her (Kaikeyi) lying down on the floor of the chamber of wrath in an unbecoming manner - [2-10-22]

english translation

प्रतप्त इव दुःखेन सोऽपश्यज्जगतीपतिः । स वृद्धस्तरुणीं भार्यां प्राणेभ्योऽपि गरीयसीम् ॥ २-१०-२३

- after seeing that the lord of the earth ( King Dasaratha ) felt as if consumed by grief. For the old king his youthful wife was dearer to him more than his own life. [2-10-23]

english translation

अपापः पापसङ्कल्पां ददर्श धरणीतले । लतामिव विनिष्कृत्तां पतितां देव तामिव ॥ २-१०-२४

Sinless King ( King Dasaratha ) beheld her (Kaikeyi) lying down on the floor with an intent to do sin, looked like a severed creeper, like a goddess fallen down - [2-10-24]

english translation

किन्नरीमिव निर्धूतां च्युतामप्सरसं यथा । मायामिव परिभ्रष्टां हरिणीमिव संयताम् ॥ २-१०-२५

- like a 'Kinnari' thrown down on earth, like an 'apsaraa' expelled from heaven, like an illusion torn, like a female deer tied down. [2-10-25]
