आगतः क्रूरकार्यायाः कैकेय्या भरतः सुतः । तमहं द्रष्टुमिच्छामि भरतं दीर्घदर्शिनम् ॥ २-७५-६
- 'Bharata, the farsighted son of Kaikeyi of cruel deeds has come and I wish to see him.' [2-75-6]
english translation
एवमुक्त्वा सुमित्रां सा विवर्णा मलिना कृशा । प्रतस्थे भरतो यत्र वेपमाना विचेतना ॥ २-७५-७
Having said so to Sumitra, Kausalya trembling and almost lifeless, emaciated, sullied and turned pallid set out for the place where Bharat was. [2-75-7]
english translation
स तु रामानुजश्चापि शत्रुघ्नसहितस्तदा । प्रतस्थे भरतो यत्र कौसल्याया निवेशनम् ॥ २-७५-८
But at the same time Bharata, the younger brother of Rama accompanied by Satrughna proceeded to the place where Kausalya resided. [2-75-8]
english translation
ततः शत्रुघ्नभरतौ कौसल्यां प्रेक्ष्य दुःखितौ । पर्यष्वजेतां दुःखार्तां पतितां नष्टचेतसाम् ॥ २-७५-९
Then agonised Bharata and Shatrughna, beheld grief stricken Kaushalya who was almost semiconscious overcome with grief. [2-75-9]
english translation
रुदन्तौ रुदतीं दुःखात्समेत्यार्यां मनस्स्विनीम् । भरतं प्रत्युवाचेदं कौसल्या भृशदुःखिता ॥ २-७५-१०
They ( Bharata and Shatrughna ) approached that venerable, noble hearted weeping ( Kausalya ) with great sorrow and hugged her. Looking at Bharata, the deeply afflicted Kausalya said - [2-75-10]
