नाराजके जनपदे स्वकं भवति कस्यचित् । मत्स्या इव नरा नित्यं भक्षयन्ति परस्परम् ॥ २-६७-३१
In a country where there is no king, no one can own anything and, like fish, people devour one another ceaselessly. ॥ 2-67-31॥
english translation
nArAjake janapade svakaM bhavati kasyacit । matsyA iva narA nityaM bhakSayanti parasparam ॥ 2-67-31
hk transliteration by Sanscriptये हि सम्भिन्नमर्यादा नास्तिकाश्छिन्नसंशयाः । तेऽपि भावाय कल्पन्ते राजदण्डनिपीडिताः ॥ २-६७-३२
The atheists, who were separated from their right path and who had been tormented; with punishment earlier by the king, are now without fear and are able to exercise their old temperament (due to anarchy). ॥ 2-67-32॥
english translation
ye hi sambhinnamaryAdA nAstikAzchinnasaMzayAH । te'pi bhAvAya kalpante rAjadaNDanipIDitAH ॥ 2-67-32
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयथा दृष्टिः शरीरस्य नित्यमेव प्रवर्तते । तथा नरेन्द्रो राष्ट्रस्य प्रभवस्सत्यधर्मयोः ॥ २-६७-३३
The king is the source for protecting the truth and morality of a country like the eye which perpetually watches the welfare of the body. ॥ 2-67-33॥
english translation
yathA dRSTiH zarIrasya nityameva pravartate । tathA narendro rASTrasya prabhavassatyadharmayoH ॥ 2-67-33
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराजा सत्यं च धर्मश्च राजा कुलवतां कुलम् । राजा माता पिता चैव राजा हितकरो नृणाम् ॥ २-६७-३४
The king is the protector of truth and righteousness, of men of good families. He is father, and mother. He alone renders welfare of the people. ॥ 2-67-34॥
english translation
rAjA satyaM ca dharmazca rAjA kulavatAM kulam । rAjA mAtA pitA caiva rAjA hitakaro nRNAm ॥ 2-67-34
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयमो वैश्रवणः शक्रः वरुणश्च महाबलः । विशेष्यन्ते नरेन्द्रेण वृत्तेन महता ततः ॥ २-६७-३५
Hence, the king with his excellent conduct surpasses mighty Yama ( the god of Death ), Kubera ( the god of riches ), Indra ( the ruler of celestials )and Varuna ( the Lord of Waters ). ॥ 2-67-35॥

yamo vaizravaNaH zakraH varuNazca mahAbalaH । vizeSyante narendreNa vRttena mahatA tataH ॥ 2-67-35
