ऋषयस्तत्र बहवो विहृत्य शरदां शतम् । तपसा दिवमारूढाः कपालशिरसा सह ॥ २-५४-३१
On the Chitrakuta mountain many ascetics wandered about (lived) for hundreds of years carrying on penance. In the process they became so much emaciated that they looked as if they were left (only) with the skulls on their heads. (In the end) they ascended heaven. [2-54-31]
english translation
प्रविविक्तमहं मन्ये तं वासं भवतस्सुखम् । इह वा वनवासाय वस राम मया सह ॥ २-५४-३२
Oh ! Rama, I think you will enjoy your stay there in a solitary place. Or else, you may live with me here during the period of banishment.' [2-54-32]
english translation
स रामं सर्वकामैस्तं भरद्वाजः प्रियातिथिम् । सभार्यं सह च भ्रात्रा प्रतिजग्राह धर्मवित् ॥ २-५४-३३
Bharadwaja, who knows his duty honoured Rama, his beloved guest with his consort and brother by extending all kinds of hospitality. [2-54-33]
english translation
तस्य प्रयागे रामस्य तं महर्षिमुपेयुषः । प्रपन्ना रजनी पुण्याः चित्राः कथयतः कथाः ॥ २-५४-३४
At Prayaga, while the great sage Bharadwaja was narrating to Rama sitting near him several interesting anecdotes, the holy night set in. [2-54-34]

सीतातृतीयः काकुत्स्थः परिश्रान्तः सुखोचितः । भरद्वाजाश्रमे रम्ये तां रात्रिमवसत्सुखम् ॥ २-५४-३५
The exhausted scion of the Kakutsthas, used to comforts, stayed in the lovely hermitage of Bharadwaja for the night with Sita, as the third member (of the group). [2-54-35]
