ते तु तस्मिन्महावृक्षे उषित्वा रजनीं शिवाम् | विमलेऽभ्युदिते सूर्ये तस्माद्देशात्प्रतस्थिरे || २-५४-१

sanskrit

They (Rama, Sita and Lakshmana) spent that auspicious night under that great tree and set out from there after the bright sun rose. [2-54-1]

english translation

te tu tasminmahAvRkSe uSitvA rajanIM zivAm | vimale'bhyudite sUrye tasmAddezAtpratasthire || 2-54-1

They entered the deep forest and and proceeded towards the region where the river Yamuna merged with Bhagirathi Ganga. [2-54-2]

english translation

yatra bhAgIrathIM gaGgAM yamunAbhipravartate | jagmustaM dezamuddizya vigAhya sumahadvanam || 2-54-2

ते भूमिभागान्विविधान् देशांश्चापि मनोरमान् | अदृष्टपूर्वान् पश्यन्तस्तत्र तत्र यशश्विनः || २-५४-३

They the illustrious trios ( Rama, Sita and Lakshmana ) saw the different regions of the land and other enchanting places which they had never seen before. [2-54-3]

te bhUmibhAgAnvividhAn dezAMzcApi manoramAn | adRSTapUrvAn pazyantastatra tatra yazazvinaH || 2-54-3

Walking on the safe path and observing various kinds of trees Rama said to Lakshmana at the end of the day : - [2-54-4]

yathA kSemeNa gacchan sa pazyaMzca vividhAn drumAn | nivRttamAtre divase rAmaH saumitrimabravIt || 2-54-4

प्रयागमभितः पश्य सौमित्रे धूममुन्नतम् | अग्नेर्भगवतः केतुं मन्ये सन्निहितो मुनिः || २-५४-५

- 'Oh ! son of Sumitra, look at the column of smoke rising like the banner of the venerable firegod near Prayaga. I think an ascetic dwells nearby. [2-54-5]

english translation

prayAgamabhitaH pazya saumitre dhUmamunnatam | agnerbhagavataH ketuM manye sannihito muniH || 2-54-5
