स रमो रथमास्थाय सम्प्रहृष्टसुहृञनः । पताकाध्वजसंपन्नं महार्हगुरुधूपितम् ॥ २-१७-१
Surrounded by friends overwhelmed with great joy, that Rama aboard the chariot. Decorated with banners and pennants, made fragrant with expensive incense and agaru . - ॥ 2-17-1॥
english translation
sa ramo rathamAsthAya samprahRSTasuhRJanaH । patAkAdhvajasaMpannaM mahArhagurudhUpitam ॥ 2-17-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअपश्यन्नगरं श्रीमान् नानाजनसमाकुलम् । स गृहैरभ्रसंकाशैः पांडुरैरुपशोभितम् ॥ २-१७-२
- and crowded with multitudes of people, the city was beheld by the glorious one ( Rama ). Lined with houses gleaming pale white like cloud . - ॥ 2-17-2॥
english translation
apazyannagaraM zrImAn nAnAjanasamAkulam । sa gRhairabhrasaMkAzaiH pAMDurairupazobhitam ॥ 2-17-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराजमार्गं ययौ रामो मध्येनगरुधूपितम् । चन्दनानाम् च मुख्यानामगुरूणाम् च संचयैः ॥ २-१७-३
- and made fragrant with agaru and incense, he ( Rama ) proceeded down the middle of the highway. With heaps of sandal and agaru of the highest quality - ॥ 2-17-3॥

rAjamArgaM yayau rAmo madhyenagarudhUpitam । candanAnAm ca mukhyAnAmagurUNAm ca saMcayaiH ॥ 2-17-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्तमानां च गन्धानां क्षौमकौशाम्बरस्य च । अविद्धाभिश्च मुक्ताभिरुत्तमैः स्फाटिकैरपि ॥ २-१७-४
- excellent fragrant substances and bundles of white silken cloth, gleamed with unholed (pristine) pearls, articles made of crystals ( Sphatika ) - ॥ 2-17-4॥

uttamAnAM ca gandhAnAM kSaumakauzAmbarasya ca । aviddhAbhizca muktAbhiruttamaiH sphATikairapi ॥ 2-17-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशोभमानसम्बाधं तं राजपथमुत्तमम् । संवृतं विविधैः पुष्पैभ्रुक्ष्यैरुच्चावचैरपि ॥ २-१७-५
- flowers of every kind and articles of food of every variety, The highway (Rama entered) was splendid and spacious. ॥ 2-17-5॥

zobhamAnasambAdhaM taM rAjapathamuttamam । saMvRtaM vividhaiH puSpaibhrukSyairuccAvacairapi ॥ 2-17-5
