अतदर्हं महाराजं शयानम् सयानमतथोचितम् । ययातिमिव पुण्यान्ते देवलोकात्परिच्युतम् ॥ २-१३-१
The maharaja lying on the floor resembled (king) Yayati fallen from heaven after his merits (earned earlier) were exhausted. He neither deserved nor was accustomed to such (humiliating) treatment. ॥ 2-13-1॥

atadarhaM mahArAjaM zayAnam sayAnamatathocitam । yayAtimiva puNyAnte devalokAtparicyutam ॥ 2-13-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनर्थरूपा सिद्धार्था ह्यभीता भयदर्शिनी । पुनराकारयामास तमेव वरमङ्गना ॥ २-१३-२
Fearless Kaikeyi ,the incarnate of misfortune having accomplished her purpose, displyaing feigned fear, urged the king again (without inhibition), about the boons ॥ 2-13-2॥

anartharUpA siddhArthA hyabhItA bhayadarzinI । punarAkArayAmAsa tameva varamaGganA ॥ 2-13-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptत्वं कत्थसे महाराज सत्यवादी दृढव्रतः । मम चेदं वरं कस्माद्विधारयितुमिच्छसि ॥ २-१३-३
- 'Oh ! great king you used to boast that you always speak the truth and are steadfast in your vows. Why are you now seeking to avoid granting me this boon?' ॥ 2-13-3॥

tvaM katthase mahArAja satyavAdI dRDhavrataH । mama cedaM varaM kasmAdvidhArayitumicchasi ॥ 2-13-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवमुक्तस्तु कैकेय्या राजा दशरथस्तदा । प्रत्युवाच ततः क्रुद्धो मुहूर्तं विह्वलन्निव ॥ २-१३-४
Thus addressed by Kaikeyi, king Dasaratha flew into a temper for a while, and then as if in a state of delirium, replied ॥ 2-13-4॥

evamuktastu kaikeyyA rAjA dazarathastadA । pratyuvAca tataH kruddho muhUrtaM vihvalanniva ॥ 2-13-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमृते मयि गते रामे वनं मनुजपुंगवे । हन्त अनार्ये मम अमित्रे सकाम सुखिनी भव ॥ २-१३-५
- 'Alas Oh ! ignoble woman, my enemy, your desire would be fulfilled after Rama, the foremost among men is exiled and I am dead. You will be happy thereafter. ॥ 2-13-5॥

mRte mayi gate rAme vanaM manujapuMgave । hanta anArye mama amitre sakAma sukhinI bhava ॥ 2-13-5
