स्वर्गेऽपि खलु रामस्य कुशलं दैवतैरहम् । प्रत्यादेशादभिहितं धारयिष्ये कथं बत ॥ २-१३-६
Even in heaven when the gods enquire about the welfare of Rama, how will I convince them about his banishment repudiating the fact? What a catastrophe? [2-13-6]
english translation
कैकेय्याः प्रियकामेन रामः प्रव्राजितो मया । यदि सत्यं ब्रवीम्येतत्तस्त्यं भविष्यति ॥ २-१३-७
If I tell the truth, 'To please Kaikeyi I have sent Rama to the forest', none will believe it and will consider it untruth. [2-13-7]

अपुत्रेण मया पुत्रः श्रमेण महता महान् । रामो लब्धो महाबाहुः स कथं त्यज्यते मया ॥ २-१३-८
When I was issueless, I obtained mighty and valiant Rama with great effort as a son. How can I banish him? [2-13-8]

शूरश्च कृतविद्यश्च जितक्रोधः क्षमापरः । कथं कमलपत्राक्षो मया रामो विवास्यते ॥ २-१३-९
How can I exile Rama, whose eyes resemble lotus petals, who is learned and brave, who has subdued his anger and who is always full of forgiveness? [2-13-9]

कथमिन्दीवरश्यामं दीर्घबाहुं महाबलम् । अभिराममहं रामं प्रेषयिष्यामि दण्डकान् ॥ २-१३-१०
Rama with a charming personality has a complexion like the blue lotus. He has long arms (with immense strength). How can I banish him to Dandaka forest? [2-13-10]
