तां श्रुत्वा करुणां वाचं पितुर्मरणसंहिताम् । राघवो भरते नोक्तां बभूव गतचेतनः ॥ २-१०२-१

Having heard the words of Bharata regarding the death of his father, Rama became unconscious. ॥ 2-102-1॥

tAM zrutvA karuNAM vAcaM piturmaraNasaMhitAm । rAghavo bharate noktAM babhUva gatacetanaH ॥ 2-102-1

तं तु वज्रमिवोत्सृष्टमाहवे दानवारिणा । वाग्वज्रंभरते नोक्त ममनोज्ञं परन्तपः ॥ २-१०२-२

On hearing the thunderlike words spoken by Bharata afflicting the mind, like the thunderbolt hurled by Indra (enemy of demons) in a battle, the scorcher of enemies - ॥ 2-102-2॥

taM tu vajramivotsRSTamAhave dAnavAriNA । vAgvajraMbharate nokta mamanojJaM parantapaH ॥ 2-102-2

प्रगृह्य रामो बाहू वैपुष्पिताग्रो यथा द्रुमः । वने परशुना कृत्तस्तथा भुवि पपात ह ॥ २-१०३-३

- Rama, stretching forth both his arms, fell down on the ground like a tree with flowering tops severed by an axe in the forest. ॥ 2-102-3॥

english translation

pragRhya rAmo bAhU vaipuSpitAgro yathA drumaH । vane parazunA kRttastathA bhuvi papAta ha ॥ 2-103-3

तथा हि पतितं रामं जगत्यां जगतीपतिम् । कूलघातपरिश्रान्तं प्रसुप्तमिव कुञ्जरम् ॥ २-१०२-४

Rama, lord of the earth who had fallen down on the ground, and was lying like an elephant exhausted from repeatedly striking a river bank . - ॥ 2-102-4॥

tathA hi patitaM rAmaM jagatyAM jagatIpatim । kUlaghAtaparizrAntaM prasuptamiva kuJjaram ॥ 2-102-4

भ्रातरस्ते महेष्वासं सर्वतश्शोककर्शितम् । रुदन्तस्सह वैदेह्या सिषिचुस्सलिलेन वै ॥ २-१०२-५

- afflicted with grief, the great archer ( Rama ) with those brothers on all sides and Sita lamenting and sprinkling water on him. ॥ 2-102-5॥

bhrAtaraste maheSvAsaM sarvatazzokakarzitam । rudantassaha vaidehyA siSicussalilena vai ॥ 2-102-5
