मत्कृते व्यसनं प्राप्तो लोकनाथो महाद्युतिः । सर्वान्कामान्परित्यज्य वने वसति राघवः ॥ २-९९-१६

Effulgent Rama, the lord of the world, had to renounce all desires and undergo this calamity of living in the forest on my account. [2-99-16]

english translation

इति लोकसमाक्रुष्टः पादेष्वद्य प्रसादयन् । रामस्य निपतिष्यामि सीताया लक्ष्मणस्य च ॥ २-९९-१७

Reviled by the world, I shall now fall at the feet of Sita, Rama and Lakshmana seeking their grace. [2-99-17]

english translation

एवं संविलपं स्तस्मिन्वने दशरथात्मजः । ददर्श महतीं पुण्यां पर्णशालां मनोरमाम् ॥ २-९९-१८

Lamenting in this way, son of Dasaratha ( Bharata ) beheld in that forest an excellent, sacred and enchanting hut . - [2-99-18]

english translation

सालतालाश्वकर्णानां पर्णैर्बहुभिरावृताम् । विशालां मृदुभिस्तीर्णां कुशैर्वेदिमिवाध्वरे ॥ २-९९-१९

- covered with a lot of leaves of sala, palmyra and aswakarna trees like a sacrificial altar spread with soft kusa grass. [2-99-19]

english translation

शक्रायुधनिकाशैश्च कार्मुकैर्भारसाधनैः । रुक्मपृष्ठैर्महासारैः शोभितां शत्रुबाधकैः ॥ २-९९-२०

Goldplated bows that resembled the thunderbolt of Indra, powerful and capable of achieving great targets and oppressing the enemies, adorned the hut. [2-99-20]
