इदं चोदात्तदन्तानां कुञ्जराणां तरस्विनाम् । शैलपार्श्वे परिक्रान्तमन्योन्यमभिगर्जताम् ॥ २-९९-११
This must be the place on the hillside on which mighty tuskers wander about trumpeting and charging at one another. ॥ 2-99-11॥
english translation
idaM codAttadantAnAM kuJjarANAM tarasvinAm । zailapArzve parikrAntamanyonyamabhigarjatAm ॥ 2-99-11
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयमेवाधातुमिच्छन्ति तापसाः सततं वने । तस्यासौ दृश्यते धूमः सङ्कुलः कृष्णवर्त्मनः ॥ २-९९-१२
Here is the thick smoke emanating from the blacktrailed fire maintained perpetually by the ascetics living in the forest. ॥ 2-99-12॥
english translation
yamevAdhAtumicchanti tApasAH satataM vane । tasyAsau dRzyate dhUmaH saGkulaH kRSNavartmanaH ॥ 2-99-12
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअत्राहं पुरुषव्याघ्रं गुरुसत्कारकारिणम् । आर्यं द्रक्ष्यामि संहृष्टो महर्षिमिव राघवम् ॥ २-९९-१३
I shall see here with a delighted heart the venerable Rama, the best of men, who renders great hospitality (to elders) and who resembles a maharshi. ॥ 2-99-13॥

atrAhaM puruSavyAghraM gurusatkArakAriNam । AryaM drakSyAmi saMhRSTo maharSimiva rAghavam ॥ 2-99-13
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ गत्वा मुहूर्तन्तु चित्रकूटं स राघवः । मन्दाकिनीमनुप्राप्तस्तं जनं चेदमब्रवीत् ॥ २-९९-१४
Bharata walked for a short distance towards mount Chitrkuta when he reached river Mandakini. And then said to his ministers ॥ 2-99-14॥

atha gatvA muhUrtantu citrakUTaM sa rAghavaH । mandAkinImanuprAptastaM janaM cedamabravIt ॥ 2-99-14
hk transliteration by Sanscriptजगत्यां पुरषव्याघ्र आस्ते वीरासने रतः । जनेन्द्रो निर्जनं प्राप्य धिङ्मे जन्म सजीवितम् ॥ २-९९-१५
Rama, the lord of men, a tiger among men, is sitting on the ground in a 'heroic' (yogic) posture in this secluded forest. Oh ! fie upon my birth and my life. ॥ 2-99-15॥

jagatyAM puraSavyAghra Aste vIrAsane rataH । janendro nirjanaM prApya dhiGme janma sajIvitam ॥ 2-99-15
