पुष्पसञ्चयचित्रेषु चन्दनागरुगन्धिषु । पाण्डुराभ्रप्रकाशेषु शुकसङ्घरूतेषुच ॥ २-८८-६
- decked with bouquets of flowers and perfumed with sandal and agaru. The peaks of those palaces were bright like towering white clouds and echoed with cries of parrots. ॥ 2-88-6॥

They were cool and fragrant with perfumes. Having dwelt in the marvellous palaces made of golden-plated walls, that are comparable to mount Meru. ॥ 2-88-7॥

prAsAdavaravaryeSu zItavatsu sugandhiSu । uSitvAmerukalpeSu kRtakAJcana bhittiSu ॥ 2-88-7
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगीतवादित्रनिर्घोषैर्वराभरणनिस्स्वनैः । मृदङ्गवरशब्दैश्च सततं प्रतिबोधितः ॥ २-८८-८
He used to wake up to the sounds of songs and musical instruments, the tinkling of finest ornaments and the splendid sounds of the drums. ॥ 2-88-8॥

gItavAditranirghoSairvarAbharaNanissvanaiH । mRdaGgavarazabdaizca satataM pratibodhitaH ॥ 2-88-8
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवन्दिभिर्वन्दितः काले बहुभिः सूतमागधैः । गाथाभिरनुरूपाभिः स्तुतिभिश्च परन्तपः ॥ २-८८-९
Many bards, genealogists and panegyrists singing befitting ballads and extolling Rama, scorcher of enemies, virtues at appropriate time used to salute him in reverence (Bharata lamented). ॥ 2-88-9॥

vandibhirvanditaH kAle bahubhiH sUtamAgadhaiH । gAthAbhiranurUpAbhiH stutibhizca parantapaH ॥ 2-88-9
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअश्रद्धेयमिदं लोके न सत्यं प्रतिभाति मा। मुह्यते खलु मे भावः स्वप्नोऽयमिति मे मतिः ॥ २-८८-१०
It is unbelievable that such a thing has happened to Rama in this world. It does not seem real to me and looks appears like a dream and my mind is bewildered. ॥ 2-88-10॥

azraddheyamidaM loke na satyaM pratibhAti mA। muhyate khalu me bhAvaH svapno'yamiti me matiH ॥ 2-88-10
