एवं तं जनसंबाधं राजमार्गं पुरोहितः | व्यूहन्निव जनौघं तं शनैराजकुलं ययौ || २-५-२१

The priest (Vasishtha), beholding the overcrowded highway forced his passage through the crowds of men dividing them ( into two tracts ) and slowly entered the royal palace. [2-5-21]

english translation

evaM taM janasaMbAdhaM rAjamArgaM purohitaH | vyUhanniva janaughaM taM zanairAjakulaM yayau || 2-5-21

सिताभ्रशिखरप्रख्यं प्रासादमधिरुह्य सः | समीयाय नरेन्द्रेण शक्रेणेव बृहस्पतिः || २-५-२२

Having ascended the royal palace resembling the peak of a mountain covered with white clouds, Vasishtha approached the king ( Dasharatha ) like Brihaspati meeting Indra. [2-5-22]

sitAbhrazikharaprakhyaM prAsAdamadhiruhya saH | samIyAya narendreNa zakreNeva bRhaspatiH || 2-5-22

तमागतमभिप्रेक्ष्य हित्वा राजासनं नृपः | पप्रच्छ स च तस्मै तत्कृतमित्यभ्यवेदयत् || २-५-२३

On seeing Vasishtha the king descended from the throne and enquired whether he had performed the mission to which the ascetic replied affirmatively. [2-5-23]

english translation

tamAgatamabhiprekSya hitvA rAjAsanaM nRpaH | papraccha sa ca tasmai tatkRtamityabhyavedayat || 2-5-23

तेन चैव तदा तुल्यं सहासीनाः सभासदः | आसनेभ्यः समुत्तस्थुः पूजयन्तः पुरोहितम् || २-५-२४

All those present in the assembly with him (the king) also got up from their seats as he (Dasaratha) did and paid their obeisance to the priest ( Vasishtha ). [2-5-24]

english translation

tena caiva tadA tulyaM sahAsInAH sabhAsadaH | AsanebhyaH samuttasthuH pUjayantaH purohitam || 2-5-24

गुरुणा त्वभ्यनुज्ञातो मनिजौघं विसृज्य तम् | विवेशान्तःपुरं राजा सिंहो गिरिगुहामिव || २-५-२५

The king ( Dasharatha ) then, dully permitted by the preceptor ( Sage Vasishtha ), disposed the assembly of men and stepped into his inner apartment, like a lion entering the cave of a mountain. [2-5-25]

guruNA tvabhyanujJAto manijaughaM visRjya tam | vivezAntaHpuraM rAjA siMho giriguhAmiva || 2-5-25
