अहं गमिष्यामि वनं सुदुर्गमं मृगायुतं वानरवारणैर्युतम् | वने निवत्स्यामि यथा पितुर्गृहे तवैव पादावुपगृह्य संयता || २-२७-२१

sanskrit

I shall go (along with you) to the highly impenetrable forest infested with animals like monkeys and elephants. I shall live in the forest in (full) discipline as in my father's abode, taking shelter at your feet. [2-27-21]

english translation

ahaM gamiSyAmi vanaM sudurgamaM mRgAyutaM vAnaravAraNairyutam | vane nivatsyAmi yathA piturgRhe tavaiva pAdAvupagRhya saMyatA || 2-27-21

hk transliteration

अनन्यभावामनुरक्तचेतसं त्वया वियुक्तां मरणायनिश्चिताम् | नयस्व मां साधु कुरुष्व याचनाम् न ते मयाऽतो गुरुता भविष्यति || २-२७-२२

sanskrit

Since I have no thought other than you and my heart is (irretrievably) attached to you I have resolved to die if separated from you. Pray, be favourably disposed to take me. I shall not be a burden to you.' [2-27-22]

english translation

ananyabhAvAmanuraktacetasaM tvayA viyuktAM maraNAyanizcitAm | nayasva mAM sAdhu kuruSva yAcanAm na te mayA'to gurutA bhaviSyati || 2-27-22

hk transliteration

तथा ब्रुवाणामपि धर्मवत्सलो न च स्म सीतां नृवरो निनीषति | उवाच चैनां बहु सन्निवर्तने वने निवासस्य च दुःखितां प्रति || २-२७-२३

sanskrit

Although Sita was thus appealing, best of men ( Rama ), devoted to righteousness, was (still) unwilling to take her. In order to dissuade her, he began to describe to the mournful Sita the many hardships of forest life. [2-27-21]

english translation

tathA bruvANAmapi dharmavatsalo na ca sma sItAM nRvaro ninISati | uvAca cainAM bahu sannivartane vane nivAsasya ca duHkhitAM prati || 2-27-23
