ततो बहुगुणं तेषां बाष्पं नेत्रेष्वजायत | तथा ब्रुवति काकुत्स्थे कुमाराणां यशस्विनाम् || २-१०३-१६

While the scion of the Kakutsthas was saying thus, copious tears welled up from the eyes of all those illustrious sons of Dasaratha. [2-102-16]

english translation

tato bahuguNaM teSAM bASpaM netreSvajAyata | tathA bruvati kAkutsthe kumArANAM yazasvinAm || 2-103-16

hk transliteration

ततस्ते भ्रातर स्रव्रॆ भृशमाश्वास्य दु:खितम् | अब्रुवन् जगतीभर्तुः क्रियतामुदकं पितुः || २-१०२-१७

sanskrit

All the brothers, having consoled Rama as best they could, told him, Let the libations be offered to our father, the protector of the world. [2-102-17]

english translation

tataste bhrAtara sravrè bhRzamAzvAsya du:khitam | abruvan jagatIbhartuH kriyatAmudakaM pituH || 2-102-17

सा सीता स्वर्गतं श्रुत्वा श्वशुरं तं महानृपम् | नेत्राभ्यामश्रुपूर्णाभ्या शशाकेक्षितुं प्रियम् || २-१०२-१८

sanskrit

On hearing that her father-in-law, ( king Dasaratha ), had attained heaven, Sita, her eyes filled with tears could not look at her husband in the face. [2-102-18]

english translation

sA sItA svargataM zrutvA zvazuraM taM mahAnRpam | netrAbhyAmazrupUrNAbhyA zazAkekSituM priyam || 2-102-18

सान्त्वयित्वा तु तां रामो रुदन्तीं जनकात्मजाम् | उवाच लक्ष्मणं तत्र दुःखितो दुःखितं वचः || २-१०२-१९

Having consoled Sita, daughter of Janaka, griefstricken Rama said to Lakshmana who was also distressed with grief : - [2-102-19]

english translation

sAntvayitvA tu tAM rAmo rudantIM janakAtmajAm | uvAca lakSmaNaM tatra duHkhito duHkhitaM vacaH || 2-102-19

hk transliteration

आनयेङ्गुदिपिण्याकं चीरमाहर चोत्तरम् | जलक्रियार्थं तातस्य गमिष्यामि महात्मनः || २-१०२-२०

sanskrit

- 'I shall go and offer libations to my magnanimous father. Go and fetch the dried pulp of ingudi fruit and an upper garment made of bark. [2-102-20]

english translation

AnayeGgudipiNyAkaM cIramAhara cottaram | jalakriyArthaM tAtasya gamiSyAmi mahAtmanaH || 2-102-20
