अहं राघव कैकेय्या वरदानेन मोहितः । अयोध्यायास्त्वमेवाद्य भव राजा निगृह्य माम् ॥ २-३४-२६
- 'I have been deluded by Kaikeyi into bestowing boons. Imprison me and be now king of Ayodhya, Oh ! scion of the Raghu dynasty ( Rama ).' ॥ 2-34-26॥
english translation
ahaM rAghava kaikeyyA varadAnena mohitaH । ayodhyAyAstvamevAdya bhava rAjA nigRhya mAm ॥ 2-34-26
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवमुक्तो नृपतिना रामो धर्मभृतां वरः । प्रत्युवाचाञ्जलिं कृत्वा पितरं वाक्यकोविदः ॥ २-३४-२७
Thus spoken to by the king, Rama, skilled in speech and upholder of righteousness, replied to his father with folded palms ॥ 2-34-27॥
english translation
evamukto nRpatinA rAmo dharmabhRtAM varaH । pratyuvAcAJjaliM kRtvA pitaraM vAkyakovidaH ॥ 2-34-27
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभवान्वर्ष सहस्राय पृथिव्या नृपते पतिः । अहं त्वरण्येवत्स्यामि न मे कार्यं त्वयाऽनृतम् ॥ २-३४-२८
- 'You will remain the lord of this earth for a thousand years to come, O king As for me, I will dwell in the forest. Do not deviate from truth on my account. ॥ 2-34-28॥
english translation
bhavAnvarSa sahasrAya pRthivyA nRpate patiH । ahaM tvaraNyevatsyAmi na me kAryaM tvayA'nRtam ॥ 2-34-28
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनव पञ्च च वर्षाणि वनवासे विहृत्य ते । पुनःपादौ ग्रहीष्यामि प्रतिज्ञान्ते नराधिप ॥ २-३४-२९
Having fulfilled the vow on the completion of fourteen years of wandering in the forest I shall come back to touch your feet, Oh ! lord of men. ॥ 2-34-29॥
english translation
nava paJca ca varSANi vanavAse vihRtya te । punaHpAdau grahISyAmi pratijJAnte narAdhipa ॥ 2-34-29
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरुदन्नार्तः प्रियं पुत्रं सत्यपाशेन संयतः । कैकेय्या चोद्यमानस्तु मिथो राजा तमब्रवीत् ॥ २-३४-३०
The king who was bound by the cord of truth and instigated by Kaikeyi said, wailing in distress ॥ 2-34-30॥

rudannArtaH priyaM putraM satyapAzena saMyataH । kaikeyyA codyamAnastu mitho rAjA tamabravIt ॥ 2-34-30
