प्रविश्य च तदा रामो मातुरन्त:पुरं शुभम् । ददर्श मातरं तत्र हावयन्तीं हुताशनम् ॥ २-२०-१६
Rama entered the auspicious inner apartment of his mother and saw her exhorting the priests to offer sacrificial oblations to Agni (fire-god). [2-20-16]
english translation
देवकार्यनिमित्तम् च तत्रापश्यत् समुद्यतम्। दध्यक्षतम् घृतम् चैव मोदकान् हविषस्तदा ॥ २-२०-१७
There, he( Rama ) saw the articles of worship kept ready for the purpose of the sacred ceremony like curd, unbroken rice, clarified butter, sweet meats, things fit for oblation - [2-20-17]
english translation
लाजान् माल्यानि शुक्लानि पायसम् कृसरम् तथा । समिधः पूर्णकुम्भांश्छ ददर्श रघुनंदनः ॥ २-२०-१८
- Rama also saw fried grain, garlands made of white flowers, rice boiled in milk, mixture of rice and peas with a few spices, sacrificial sticks, vessels full of water etc. [2-20-18]
english translation
ताम् शुक्लक्षौमसम्वीताम् व्रतयोगेन कर्शिताम् । तर्पयन्तीम् ददर्शाद्भिः देवताम् देववर्णिनीम् ॥ २-२०-१९
Kausalya, emaciated due to observance of vows and clad in white silk looked like a celestial being. She was engaged in offering libations to the deities. [2-20-19]

सा चिरस्यात्मजं दृष्ट्वा मातृनन्दनमागतम् । अभिचक्राम संहृष्टा किशोरं बडबा यथा ॥ २-२०-२०
Seeing her son who had come after a long time and who is a source of joy to his mother, Kausalya approached him with great delight like a mare to her young calf. [2-20-20]
