उत्सवेषु च सर्वेषु पितेव परितुष्यति । सत्यवादी महेष्वासो वृद्धसेवी जितेन्द्रियः ॥ २-२-४१
- (and) rejoices like a father on festive occasions. He is one who speaks the truth. He is a great archer, one who has conquered his senses and serves the aged. ॥ 2-2-41॥
english translation
utsaveSu ca sarveSu piteva parituSyati । satyavAdI maheSvAso vRddhasevI jitendriyaH ॥ 2-2-41
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्मितपूर्वाभिभाषी च धर्मं सर्वात्मना श्रितः । सम्यग्योक्ता श्रेयसां च न विगृह्य कथारुचिः ॥ २-२-४२
He ( Rama ) speaks with a smile and protects dharma with all his heart. He duly procures beneficent deeds. He is not interested in wrangling talks. ॥ 2-2-42॥
english translation
smitapUrvAbhibhASI ca dharmaM sarvAtmanA zritaH । samyagyoktA zreyasAM ca na vigRhya kathAruciH ॥ 2-2-42
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्तरोत्तरयुक्तौ च वक्ता वाचस्पतिर्यथा । सुभ्रूरायतताम्राक्षः साक्षाद् विष्णुरिव स्वयम् ॥ २-२-४३
But during debates he is eloquent like Brihaspati (establishing the truth on the basis of reasoning). He has beautiful eyebrows. He has red and broad eyes. He is absolutely like the God Vishnu himself . - ॥ 2-2-43॥
english translation
uttarottarayuktau ca vaktA vAcaspatiryathA । subhrUrAyatatAmrAkSaH sAkSAd viSNuriva svayam ॥ 2-2-43
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरामो लोकाभिरामोऽयं शौर्यवीर्यपराक्रमैः । प्रजापालनतत्त्वज्ञो न रागोपहतेन्द्रियः ॥ २-२-४४
- in strength, heroism and valour. Rama is the source of delight to the world. He is proficient in the ways and means of ruling the people. His senses are not overpowered by passion. ॥ 2-2-44॥

rAmo lokAbhirAmo'yaM zauryavIryaparAkramaiH । prajApAlanatattvajJo na rAgopahatendriyaH ॥ 2-2-44
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशक्तस्त्रैलोक्यमप्येको भोक्तुं किं नु महीमिमाम् । नाऽस्य क्रोधः प्रसादश्च निरर्थोऽस्ति कदाचन ॥ २-२-४५
He alone is capable of ruling the three worlds, what to speak the earth? His anger or favour never goes in vain. ॥ 2-2-45॥
english translation
zaktastrailokyamapyeko bhoktuM kiM nu mahImimAm । nA'sya krodhaH prasAdazca nirartho'sti kadAcana ॥ 2-2-45
