सरिताम् तु पतिः स्वल्पाम् मर्यादाम् सत्यम् अन्वितः । सत्य अनुरोधात् समये वेलाम् खाम् न अतिवर्तते ॥ २-१४-६

The ocean, lord of rivers, even when (tidal) time comes does not cross the shore in obedience to truth. ॥ 2-14-6॥

english translation

saritAm tu patiH svalpAm maryAdAm satyam anvitaH । satya anurodhAt samaye velAm khAm na ativartate ॥ 2-14-6

स्त्यमेकपदं ब्रह्मे सत्ये धर्मः प्रतिष्ठतः। सत्यमेवाक्षया वेदाः सत्येनै वाप्यते परम् ॥ २-१४-७

Truth is Brahman in one word. Righteousness is firmly established in truth. Truth is the imperishable Vedas. The supreme state can be attained by means of truth. ॥ 2-14-7॥

english translation

styamekapadaM brahme satye dharmaH pratiSThataH। satyamevAkSayA vedAH satyenai vApyate param ॥ 2-14-7

सत्यं समनुवर्त्स्व यदि धर्मे धृता मतिः । सफलः स वरो मेऽस्तु वरदो ह्यसि सत्तम ॥ २-१४-८

Oh ! excellent one, if your mind is firmly fixed in righteousness, then by following it fulfil the boon granted to me.You are the bestower of boons indeed. ॥ 2-14-8॥

english translation

satyaM samanuvartsva yadi dharme dhRtA matiH । saphalaH sa varo me'stu varado hyasi sattama ॥ 2-14-8

धर्मस्येहाभिकामार्थं मम चैवाचिचोदनात् । प्रव्राजय सुतं रामम् त्रिः खलु त्वां ब्रवीम्यहम् ॥ २-१४-९

You must uphold righteousness. I also urge you to do that. Send your son Rama to the forest. I am repeating this statement thrice. ॥ 2-14-9॥

dharmasyehAbhikAmArthaM mama caivAcicodanAt । pravrAjaya sutaM rAmam triH khalu tvAM bravImyaham ॥ 2-14-9

समयम् च मम आर्य इमम् यदि त्वम् न करिष्यसि । अग्रतः ते परित्यक्ता परित्यक्ष्यामि जीवितम् ॥ २-१४-१०

Oh ! noble one, if you do not fulfil the agreement, it will mean I have been abandoned by you. (Therefore) I will give up my life in your presence.' ॥ 2-14-10॥

english translation

samayam ca mama Arya imam yadi tvam na kariSyasi । agrataH te parityaktA parityakSyAmi jIvitam ॥ 2-14-10
