गुरुः क्रियावान्वृद्धश्च राजा प्रेतः पितेति च । तातं न परिगर्हेयं दैवतं चेति संसदि ॥ २-१०६-११

King ( Dasaratha ), my father and preceptor, is godlike to me. Devoted to meritorious acts, he departed from this world in his old age. For this reason, I cannot reproach him (publicly) in this assembly (of men). ॥ 2-106-11॥

guruH kriyAvAnvRddhazca rAjA pretaH piteti ca । tAtaM na parigarheyaM daivataM ceti saMsadi ॥ 2-106-11

को हि धर्मार्थयोर्हीनमीदृशं कर्म किल्बिषम् । स्त्रियाः प्रियचिकीर्षुः सन् कुर्याद् धर्मज्ञ धर्मवित् ॥ २-१०६-१२

Oh ! Rama, conversant with righteousness, will any one who knows the meaning of righteousness, do such a sinful act contrary to dharma and artha to please a woman? ॥ 2-106-12॥

ko hi dharmArthayorhInamIdRzaM karma kilbiSam । striyAH priyacikIrSuH san kuryAd dharmajJa dharmavit ॥ 2-106-12

अन्तकाले हि भूतानि मुह्यन्तीति पुरा श्रुतिः । राज्ञैवं कुर्वता लोके प्रत्यक्षं सा श्रुतिः कृता ॥ २-१०६-१३

There is an ancient saying that at the time of death, the intellect of people is deluded. By conducting himself in this way, king ( Dasaratha ) has proved it. ॥ 2-106-13॥

antakAle hi bhUtAni muhyantIti purA zrutiH । rAjJaivaM kurvatA loke pratyakSaM sA zrutiH kRtA ॥ 2-106-13

साध्वर्थमभिसन्धाय क्रोधान्मोहाच्च साहसात् । तातस्य यदतिक्रान्तं प्रत्याहरतु तद्भवान् ॥ २-१०६-१४

Our father has trangressed righteousness due to anger or delusion or recklessness. Therefore, you may think over the matter prudently and set it right. ॥ 2-106-14॥

sAdhvarthamabhisandhAya krodhAnmohAcca sAhasAt । tAtasya yadatikrAntaM pratyAharatu tadbhavAn ॥ 2-106-14

पितुर्हि समतिक्रान्तं पुत्रो यस्साधु मन्यते । तदपत्यं मतं लोके विपरीतमतोऽन्यथा ॥ २-१०६-१५

One who sets right the wrongs done by his father is a true son. Otherwise the son becomes just the opposite. (He is not a son to the father). ॥ 2-106-15॥

piturhi samatikrAntaM putro yassAdhu manyate । tadapatyaM mataM loke viparItamato'nyathA ॥ 2-106-15
