न चावमन्ता भूतानां न च कालवशानुगः । एवं श्रेष्ठगुणैर्युक्तः प्रजानां पार्थिवात्मजः ॥ २-१-३१
He never slighted any living being nor did he bow to the pressure of time. Thus endowed with such excellent qualities, the subjects . - [2-1-31]

सम्मतस्त्रिषु लोकेषु वसुधायाः क्षमागुणैः । बुद्ध्या बृहस्पतेस्तुल्यो वीर्येणापि शचीपतेः ॥ २-१-३२
- in the three worlds held him in high esteem. In forbearance he was like the earth, in wisdom like Brihaspati and in prowess like the consort of Sachi (Indra). [2-1-32]

तथा सर्वप्रजाकान्तैः प्रीतिसञ्जननैः पितुः । गुणैर्विरुरुचे रामो दीप्तः सूर्य इवांशुभिः ॥ २-१-३३
Rama, by his virtues, was a source of happiness to all the people and a spring of joy to his father. As the sun shines with his rays, Rama was shining, thus, with his virtues. [2-1-33]

तमेवं व्रत्तसंपन्नमप्रधृष्यपराक्रमम् । लोकपालोपमं नाथमकामयत मेदिनी ॥ २-१-३४
The earth desired him as her lord, for he was bestowed with such avowed virtues and with indomitable prowess equal to all the guardians of the quarters. [2-1-34]

एतैस्तु बहुभिर्युक्तं गुणैरनुपमैः सुतम् । दृष्ट्वा दशरथो राजा चक्रे चिन्तां परन्तपः ॥ २-१-३५
Observing his son endowed with such innumerable and incomparable virtues, king Dasharatha, subduer of enemies started thinking. [2-1-35]
