स प्राङ्मुखो राजगृहादभिनिर्याय राघवः । ततः सुदामां द्युतिमान् सन्तीर्यावेक्ष्य तां नदीम् ॥ २-७१-१
The glorious prince ( Bharata ) of Raghu dynasty, set out from Rajagriha, took the eastern direction, and observing the course of the river Sudama and crossed it. ॥ 2-71-1॥
english translation
sa prAGmukho rAjagRhAdabhiniryAya rAghavaH । tataH sudAmAM dyutimAn santIryAvekSya tAM nadIm ॥ 2-71-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptह्लादिनीं दूरपारां च प्रत्यक्स्रोतस्तरङ्गिणीम् । शतद्रूमतरच्छ्रीमान्नदीमिक्ष्वाकुनन्दनः ॥ २-७१-२
The auspicious, delight of the Ikshvaku race ( Bharata ), crossed Hladini and Satadru ( Satlej ) rivers which were very wide and flowing westwards crested with waves. ॥ 2-71-2॥

hlAdinIM dUrapArAM ca pratyaksrotastaraGgiNIm । zatadrUmataracchrImAnnadImikSvAkunandanaH ॥ 2-71-2

Having reached Aparaparpata region and crossed river Satadru at Eladhana, the mountain in which river Silavaha originates and traversed Salyakarsna regions in the northeast - ॥ 2-71-3॥

ailAdhAne nadIM tIrtvA prApya cAparaparpaTAn । zilAmakurvatIM tIrtvA AgneyaM zalyakarSaNam ॥ 2-71-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसत्यसन्धश्शुचिश्श्रीमान्प्रेक्षमाणः शिलावहाम् । अत्ययात्स महाशैलान्वनं चैत्ररथं प्रति ॥ २-७१-४
- he (Bharata), ever true to his word, handsome and pure hearted, observing the course of the Shilavaha, went beyond the great mountains in the direction of the forest called Chaitraratha. ॥ 2-71-4॥

satyasandhazzucizzrImAnprekSamANaH zilAvahAm । atyayAtsa mahAzailAnvanaM caitrarathaM prati ॥ 2-71-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसरस्वतीं च गङ्गां च युग्मेन प्रतिपद्यच । उत्तरान्वीरमत्स्यानां भारुण्डं प्राविशद्वनम् ॥ २-७१-५
Arriving at the confluence of Saraswati and Ganga and traversing the north of Veeramatsya region, he entered the Bharunda forest. ॥ 2-71-5॥
