चतुर्णां हि वयह्स्थानाम् तेन ते तमनुव्रता । चत्पुष्पथान् देवपथांश्चैत्यांश्चायतनानि च ॥ २-१७-१६

- ( four ), to the young and the old. So they were devoted to him. Squares (intersections of four roads), and roads leading to temples, monuments and shrines too . - ॥ 2-17-16॥

caturNAM hi vayahsthAnAm tena te tamanuvratA । catpuSpathAn devapathAMzcaityAMzcAyatanAni ca ॥ 2-17-16

प्रदक्षिणं परिहरन् जगाम नृपतेस्सुतः । स राजकुलमासाद्य मेघसंघोपमैः शुभैः ॥ २-१७-१७

- were left on his right as the son of the king ( Rama ) proceeded. He (Rama) arrived at the royal abode, resembled clusters of white clouds. ॥ 2-17-17॥

english translation

pradakSiNaM pariharan jagAma nRpatessutaH । sa rAjakulamAsAdya meghasaMghopamaiH zubhaiH ॥ 2-17-17

प्रासादशृङ्गैर्विविधैः कैलासशिखरोपमैः । आवारयद्भिर्गनं विमानैरिव पाण्डुरैः ॥ २-१७-१८

The various towers of the palace touching the sky, looked like auspicious peaks of Kailasa, and like white aerial chariots. ॥ 2-17-18॥

english translation

prAsAdazRGgairvividhaiH kailAsazikharopamaiH । AvArayadbhirganaM vimAnairiva pANDuraiH ॥ 2-17-18

वर्धमानगृहैश्चापि रत्नजालपरिष्कृतैः । तत्पृथिव्यां गृहवरं महेन्द्रसदनोपमम् ॥ २-१७-१९

There were royal houses named vardhamana which were adorned with a net of precious stones. That excellent residence on earth, which looked like the abode of Indra. ॥ 2-17-19॥

राजपुत्रः पितुर्वेश्म प्रविवेश श्रिया ज्वलन् । स कक्ष्या धन्विभिर्गुप्तास्तिस्रोऽतिक्रम्य वाजिभिः ॥ २-१७-२०

Prince (Rama) entered his father's palace which was blazing with splendour. He ( Rama ) crossed the first three courtyards which were protected by bowmen, on horses. ॥ 2-17-20॥

rAjaputraH piturvezma praviveza zriyA jvalan । sa kakSyA dhanvibhirguptAstisro'tikramya vAjibhiH ॥ 2-17-20
