तस्य शङ्खस्य शब्देन भीमसेनरवेण च बाहुशब्देन चॊग्रेण नर्दन्तीव गिरेर गुहाः ।। ३-१४६-५६ ।।

sanskrit

'Striking his arms with his hands, the mighty Bhima made the heavens reverberate. The caves of the mountain, filled with the resounding blasts of his conch, his thunderous roars, and the powerful echoes of his arm strikes, seemed to roar in response.' ।। 3-146-56 ।।

english translation

tasya zaGkhasya zabdena bhImasenaraveNa ca bAhuzabdena cògreNa nardantIva girera guhAH || 3-146-56 ||

hk transliteration

तं वज्रनिष्पेष समम आस्फॊटितरवं भृशम शरुत्वा शैलगुहासुप्तैः सिंहैर मुक्तॊ महास्वनः ।। ३-१४६-५७ ।।

sanskrit

'Hearing the loud arm strokes, resembling the crash of thunder, the lions that had been sleeping in the caves let out mighty roars.' ।। 3-146-57 ।।

english translation

taM vajraniSpeSa samama AsphòTitaravaM bhRzama zarutvA zailaguhAsuptaiH siMhaira muktò mahAsvanaH || 3-146-57 ||

hk transliteration

सिंहनाद भयत्रस्तैः कुञ्जरैर अपि भारत मुक्तॊ विरावः सुमहान पर्वतॊ येन पूरितः ।। ३-१४६-५८ ।।

sanskrit

'In turn, the elephants, terrified by the lions' howls, bellowed with tremendous force, and their cries echoed throughout the mountain.' ।। 3-146-58 ।।

english translation

siMhanAda bhayatrastaiH kuJjaraira api bhArata muktò virAvaH sumahAna parvatò yena pUritaH || 3-146-58 ||

hk transliteration

तं तु नादं ततः शरुत्वा सुप्तॊ वानरपुंगवः पराजृम्भत महाकायॊ हनूमान नाम वानरः ।। ३-१४६-५९ ।।

sanskrit

'Hearing those sounds and recognizing Bhimasena as his brother, the great Hanuman, the chief of the monkeys, intent on aiding Bhima, obstructed the path leading to heaven.' ।। 3-146-59 ।।

english translation

taM tu nAdaM tataH zarutvA suptò vAnarapuMgavaH parAjRmbhata mahAkAyò hanUmAna nAma vAnaraH || 3-146-59 ||

कदलीषण्डमध्यस्थॊ निद्रावशगतस तदा जृम्भमाणः सुविपुलं शक्रध्वजम इवॊत्श्रितम आस्फॊटयत लाङ्गूलम इन्द्राशनिसमस्वनम ।। ३-१४६-६० ।।

sanskrit

'And thinking that Bhima should not pass that way, Hanuman, with his immense form, lay across the narrow path, adorned by the plantain trees, to obstruct it for Bhima's safety. With the intention that Bhima might avoid curse or defeat by entering the plantain grove, the mighty Hanuman, overcome by drowsiness, reclined amidst the trees. He began to yawn, lashing his long tail, raised like the consecrated pole of Indra, resounding like thunder.' ।। 3-146-60 ।।

english translation

kadalISaNDamadhyasthò nidrAvazagatasa tadA jRmbhamANaH suvipulaM zakradhvajama ivòtzritama AsphòTayata lAGgUlama indrAzanisamasvanama || 3-146-60 ||
