[व] गच्छन स तीर्थानि महानुभावः; पुण्यानि रम्याणि ददर्श राजा सर्वाणि विप्रैर उपशॊभितानि; कव चित कव चिद भारत सागरस्य ॥ ३-११८-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, "The magnanimous monarch continued his journey, visiting the sacred and delightful bathing places along the shore of the sea."' ॥ 3-118-1 ॥

english translation

स वृत्तवांस तेषु कृताभिषेकः; सहानुजः पार्थिव पुत्रपौत्रः समुद्रगां पुण्यतमां परशस्तां; जगाम पारिक्षित पाण्डुपुत्रः ॥ ३-११८-२ ॥

'He, the crowned one, was established among them; the Pāṇḍava son and grandson, the most sacred, most praiseworthy, went to the ocean-bound [land].' ॥ 3-118-2 ॥

english translation

तत्रापि चाप्लुत्य महानुभावः; संतर्पयाम आस पितॄन सुरांश च दविजातिमुख्येषु धनं विसृज्य; गॊदावरिं सागरगाम अगच्छत ॥ ३-११८-३ ॥

'There, the magnanimous king took his plunge, offering libations to his forefathers and the gods, and distributed wealth to the leaders of the twice-born class. Afterward, he journeyed to the Godavari, a sacred river that flows directly into the sea.' ॥ 3-118-3 ॥

english translation

ततॊ वि पाप्मा दरविडेषु राजन; अमुद्रम आसाद्य च लॊकपुण्यम अगस्त्यतीर्थं च पवित्रपुण्यं; नारी तीर्थान्य अथ वीरॊ ददर्श ॥ ३-११८-४ ॥

'There, he was absolved of his sins. He reached the sea in the land of the Dravidas and visited the holy site known as Agastya Tirtha, which was exceptionally sacred and pure. The valiant king also visited the sacred sites dedicated to women.' ॥ 3-118-4 ॥

english translation

तत्रार्जुनस्याग्र्य धनुर्धरस्य; निशम्य तत कर्म परैर असह्यम संपूज्यमानः परमर्षिसंघैः; परां मुदं पाण्डुसुतः स लेभे ॥ ३-११८-५ ॥

'Here, he listened to the tale of the renowned feat accomplished by Arjuna, the greatest of all bowmen, a deed beyond human capability. In this place, he was praised by the esteemed members of the saintly class, and the son of Pandu felt immense delight.' ॥ 3-118-5 ॥
