[वै] नगॊत्तमं परस्रवणैर उपेतं; दिशां गजैः किंनरपक्षिभिश च सुखं निवासं जहतां हि तेषां; न परीतिर आसीद भरतर्षभाणाम ॥ ३-१७४-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, 'Having departed from their blissful home on the beautiful mountain, filled with flowing streams, inhabited by birds, the elephants of the eight directions, and the supernatural attendants of Kuvera, all happiness abandoned the foremost of men of Bharata's lineage.'' ॥ 3-174-1 ॥

english translation

ततस तु तेषां पुनर एव हर्षः; कैलासम आलॊक्य महान बभूव कुबेर कान्तं भरतर्षभाणां; महीधरं वारिधरप्रकाशम ॥ ३-१७४-२ ॥

'But later, upon beholding Kailasa, Kuvera's cherished mountain, appearing like a cloud, the delight of those eminent heroes of the Bharata race grew exceedingly great.' ॥ 3-174-2 ॥

english translation

समुच्छ्रयान पर्वतसंनिरॊधान; गॊष्ठान गिरीणां गिरिसेतुमालाः बहून परपातांश च समीक्ष्य वीराः; सथलानि निम्नानि च तत्र तत्र ॥ ३-१७४-३ ॥

'The foremost of heroic men, armed with scimitars and bows, proceeded with contentment, observing elevated terrains, narrow passes, lion dens, rugged causeways, countless waterfalls, and lowlands in various places.' ॥ 3-174-3 ॥

english translation

तथैव चान्यानि महावनानि; मृगद्विजानेकप सेवितानि आलॊकयन्तॊ ऽभिययुः परतीतास; ते धन्विनः खड्गधरा नराग्र्याः ॥ ३-१७४-४ ॥

'And likewise, other great forests, Inhabited by many animals and birds, Those eminent warriors who were pleased, Bearing bows and swords, proceeded while observing.' ॥ 3-174-4 ॥

english translation

वनानि रम्याणि सरांसि नद्यॊ; गुहा गिरीणां गिरिगह्वराणि एते निवासाः सततं बभूवुर; निशानिशं पराप्य नरर्षभाणाम ॥ ३-१७४-५ ॥

'They came upon beautiful woodlands, rivers, lakes, caves, and mountain caverns, which often became the dwelling places of those great men, both by day and night.' ॥ 3-174-5 ॥
