[वा] ततॊ ऽहं भरतश्रेष्ठ परगृह्य रुचिरं धनुः शरैर अपातयं सौभाच छिरांसि विबुधद्विषाम ॥ ३-२३-१ ॥
'Vasudeva continued, 'Then, O foremost of the Bharatas, I took up my radiant bow and began to sever the heads of the enemies of the gods with my arrows from that chariot of precious metals.'' ॥ 3-23-1 ॥
english translation
शरांश चाशीविषाकारान ऊर्ध्वगांस तिग्मतेजसः अप्रैषं शाल्वराजाय शार्ङ्गमुक्तान सुवाससः ॥ ३-२३-२ ॥
'From my Sharanga, I unleashed arrows resembling snakes, soaring to great heights and brimming with tremendous energy.' ॥ 3-23-2 ॥
english translation
ततॊ नादृश्यत तदा सौभं कुरुकुलॊद्वह अन्तर्हितं माययाभूत ततॊ ऽहं विस्मितॊ ऽभवम ॥ ३-२३-३ ॥
'But to my astonishment, O scion of the Kuru race, the chariot itself vanished through some illusion, and I was left in awe!' ॥ 3-23-3 ॥

अथ दानवसंघास ते विकृताननमूर्धजाः उदक्रॊशन महाराज विष्ठिते मयि भारत ॥ ३-२३-४ ॥
'While I waited, that host of Danavas, with terrifying faces and wild hair, let out a dreadful howl in the midst of battle.' ॥ 3-23-4 ॥

ततॊ ऽसत्रं शब्दसाहं वै तवरमाणॊ महाहवे अयॊजयं तद वधाय ततः शब्द उपारमत ॥ ३-२३-५ ॥
'With the intent to annihilate them, I readied an arrow on my bowstring—a weapon so powerful that it could slay my foes even in complete silence.' ॥ 3-23-5 ॥
