[धौम्य] उदीच्यां राजशार्दूल दिशि पुण्यानि यानि वै तानि ते कीर्तयिष्यामि पुण्यान्य आयतनानि च ॥ ३-८८-१ ॥
'Dhaumya continued: "O foremost of kings, I shall now recount the sacred tirthas and holy places that lie in the northern direction."' ॥ 3-88-1 ॥
english translation
सरस्वती पुण्यवहा हरदिनी वनमालिनी समुद्रगा महावेगा यमुना यत्र पाण्डव ॥ ३-८८-२ ॥
'O exalted one, listen to me attentively. By hearing this account, O hero, one gains a reverent mind that leads to great virtue. In that region flows the highly sacred Sarasvati, rich with tirthas, and whose banks are easy to descend.' ॥ 3-88-2 ॥

तत्र पुण्यतमं तीर्थं पलक्षावतरणं शिवम यत्र सारस्वतैर इष्ट्वा गच्छन्त्य अवभृथं दविजाः ॥ ३-८८-३ ॥
'There too, O son of Pandu, flows the swift, ocean-bound Yamuna, and the tirtha known as Plakshavatarana, which brings great merit and prosperity. It was there that the regenerate ones, having performed the Sarasvata sacrifice, took their ritual bath upon its completion.' ॥ 3-88-3 ॥

पुण्यं चाख्यायते दिव्यं शिवम अग्निशिरॊ ऽनघ सहदेवायजद यत्र शम्य आक्षेपेण भारत ॥ ३-८८-४ ॥
'O sinless one, there lies the renowned celestial tirtha called Agnisiras, known to bring great merit. It was here that King Sahadeva conducted a sacrifice, marking out the sacred ground with a throw of the Samya (javelin).' ॥ 3-88-4 ॥

एतस्मिन्न एव चार्थेयम इन्द्र गीता युधिष्ठिर गाथा चरति लॊके ऽसमिन गीयमाना दविजातिभिः ॥ ३-८८-५ ॥
'For this reason, O Yudhishthira, Indra sang the praises of Sahadeva in verse. These verses are still recited today by the regenerate ones.' ॥ 3-88-5 ॥
