सर्वं सलिलमेवासीत्पृथिवी यत्र निर्मिता | तत: स‌मभवद्ब्रह्मा स्वयम्भूर्दैवतै: स‌ह || २-११०-३

At the beginning, all this was water from which the earth was created. Thereafter, the self existent ( Swayambhu ) Brahma along with the gods came into existence. [2-110-3]

sarvaM salilamevAsItpRthivI yatra nirmitA | tata: sa‌mabhavadbrahmA svayambhUrdaivatai: sa‌ha || 2-110-3
