ततॊ देवा मानवा दानवाश च; निकृन्तन्तं कर्णम आत्मानम एवम दृष्ट्वा सर्वे सिद्धसंघाश च नेदुर; न हय अस्यासीद दुःखजॊ वै विकारः ।। ३-२९४-३६ ।।

'As Karna cut into his own body to tear away his divine armor, the vast assembly of celestial beings, humans, and Danavas roared their approval like lions. Even while flaying his own skin, Karna's countenance remained serene and unwavering, showing no trace of the agony he endured.' ।। 3-294-36 ।।

tatò devA mAnavA dAnavAza ca; nikRntantaM karNama AtmAnama evama dRSTvA sarve siddhasaMghAza ca nedura; na haya asyAsIda duHkhajò vai vikAraH || 3-294-36 ||

ततॊ दिव्या दुन्दुभयः परणेदुः; पपातॊच्चैः पुष्पवर्षं च दिव्यम दृष्ट्वा कर्णं षस्त्र संकृत्तगात्रं; मुहुश चापि समयमानं नृवीरम ।। ३-२९४-३७ ।।

'Witnessing this hero among mortals slice through his own flesh with a blade, all the while maintaining a serene smile, the heavens themselves responded with divine celebration. Celestial drums thundered across the sky as showers of sacred flowers cascaded down upon him. ' ।। 3-294-37 ।।

'Karna, having carved away his splendid natural armor, presented it to Vasava while it still dripped with his life's essence. Without hesitation, he then severed his luminous earrings from his ears and bestowed them upon Indra.' ।। 3-294-38 ।।

tatò chitvA kavacaM divyama aGgAta; tathaivArdraM paradadau vAsavAya tathòtkRtya paradadau kuNDale te; vaikartanaH karmaNA tena karNaH || 3-294-38 ||

'And it is for this very reason that he came to be called Karna. Then Sakra, having thus cleverly beguiled Karna and bestowed upon him worldly fame, smiled, believing that the task concerning the sons of Pandu had been fulfilled. Having accomplished this, he ascended back to heaven.' ।। 3-294-39 ।।

'And hearing that Karna had been beguiled, all the sons of Dhritarashtra were struck with distress and humbled in pride. Meanwhile, the sons of Pritha, upon learning of the misfortune that had befallen the son of the charioteer, were filled with joy.' ।। 3-294-40 ।।
