[सावित्री] चयुतः सवराज्याद वनवासम आश्रितॊ; विनष्ट चक्षुः शवषुरॊ ममाश्रमे स लब्धचक्षुर बलवान भवेन नृपस; तव परसादाज जवलनार्कसंनिभः ॥ ३-२८१-२६ ॥
'Hearing these words, Savitri said, "My father-in-law, deprived of his kingdom and bereft of sight, now lives a life of exile in our forest hermitage. By thy grace, may that king regain his vision and strength, and shine once more like fire or the sun!"' ॥ 3-281-26 ॥

[यम] ददानि ते सर्वम अनिन्दिते वरं; यथा तवयॊक्तं भविता च तत तथा तवाध्वना गलानिम इवॊपलक्षये; निवर्त गच्छस्व न ते शरमॊ भवेत ॥ ३-२८१-२७ ॥
'Yama said, "O lady of faultless form, I grant thee this boon—just as thou hast spoken, so shall it be. I perceive that this journey has wearied thee; therefore, turn back now. Let not fatigue trouble thee any longer."' ॥ 3-281-27 ॥

[सावित्री] कुतः शरमॊ भर्तृसमीपतॊ हि मे; यतॊ हि भर्ता मम सा गतिर धरुवा यतः पतिं नेष्यसि तत्र मे गतिः; सुरेश भूयॊ च वचॊ निबॊध मे ॥ ३-२८१-२८ ॥
'Savitri said, "What weariness can touch me while I remain near my husband? His path is mine as well—for wherever thou leadest him, there too shall I go. Therefore, O lord of the celestials, deign once more to hear my words."' ॥ 3-281-28 ॥

सतां सकृत संगतम ईप्सितं परं; ततः परं मित्रम इति परचक्षते न चाफलं सत्पुरुषेण संगतं; ततः सतां संनिवसेत समागमे ॥ ३-२८१-२९ ॥
'Even a single meeting with the pious is greatly prized; friendship with them is prized still more. Association with the virtuous never fails to bear fruit. Therefore, one should dwell in the company of the righteous.' ॥ 3-281-29 ॥

[यम] मनॊ ऽनुकूलं बुध बुद्धिवर्धनं; तवयाहम उक्तॊ वचनं हिताश्रयम विना पुनः सत्यवतॊ ऽसय जीवितं; वरं दवितीयं वरयस्व भामिनि ॥ ३-२८१-३० ॥
'Yama said, “Thy words, rich with wise counsel, please my heart and elevate the understanding of even the learned. Therefore, O lady, ask now for a second boon—anything except the life of Satyavan.”' ॥ 3-281-30 ॥
