[सावित्री] हृतं पुरा मे शवशुरस्य धीमतः; सवम एव राज्यं स लभेत पार्थिवः जह्यात सवधर्मं न च मे गुरुर; यथा दवितीयम एतं वरयामि ते वरम ॥ ३-२८१-३१ ॥
'Savitri said, “Some time ago, my wise and noble father-in-law was deprived of his kingdom. May that monarch regain his throne. And may my revered lord never forsake his duties. This, too, I choose as my second boon.”' ॥ 3-281-31 ॥

[यम] सवम एव राज्यं परतिपत्स्यते ऽचिरान; न च सवधर्मात परिहास्यते नृपः कृतेन कामेन मया नृपात्मजे; निवर्त गच्छस्व न ते शरमॊ भवेत ॥ ३-२८१-३२ ॥
'Then Yama said, “The king shall soon regain his kingdom, and never forsake his duties. Thus, O daughter of kings, I have fulfilled thy desire. Now desist and return—trouble thyself no more.”' ॥ 3-281-32 ॥
english translation
[सावित्री] परजास तवयेमा नियमेन संयता; नियम्य चैता नयसे न कामया अतॊ यमत्वं तव देव विश्रुतं; निबॊध चेमां गिरम ईरितां मया ॥ ३-२८१-३३ ॥
'Savitri said, "By thy decrees, all beings are governed, and it is according to these laws—not by mere whim—that thou dost guide them. Therefore, O divine lord, men rightly name thee Yama. Now, I beseech thee, hear the words I speak."' ॥ 3-281-33 ॥

अद्रॊहः सर्वभूतेषु कर्मणा मनसा गिरा अनुग्रहश च दानं च सतां धर्मः सनातनः ॥ ३-२८१-३४ ॥
'The eternal duty of the righteous toward all beings is never to harm them in thought, word, or deed, but to cherish them with love and render to each their due.' ॥ 3-281-34 ॥
english translation
एवं परायॊ च लॊकॊ ऽयं मनुष्याः शक्तिपेशलाः सन्तस तव एवाप्य अमित्रेषु दयां पराप्तेषु कुर्वते ॥ ३-२८१-३५ ॥
'Such is the nature of this world—like my husband, men often lack both devotion and skill. Yet the virtuous show mercy even to their foes, granting protection when it is sought.' ॥ 3-281-35 ॥
