यस्याद्य कर्म दरक्ष्यसे मूढ सत्त्व; शतक्रतॊर वा दैत्य सेनासु संख्ये शूरः कृतास्त्रॊ मतिमान मनीषी; परियंकरॊ धर्मसुतस्य राज्ञः ॥ ३-२५४-१६ ॥
'Fool, today you shall witness his feats on the battlefield, like those of Indra amidst the Daitya ranks! That warrior, skilled in weapons, wise and discerning, ever devoted to the will of the righteous king.' ॥ 3-254-16 ॥

य एष चन्द्रार्कसमानतेजा; जघन्यजः पाण्डवानां परियश च बुद्ध्या समॊ यस्य नरॊ न विद्यते; वक्ता तथा सत्सु विनिश्चयज्ञः ॥ ३-२५४-१७ ॥
'He whose radiance rivals the sun and moon, the youngest of the Pāṇḍavas and dearest to them. Heroic, intelligent, and ever fierce in wrath, he has no equal in wisdom or eloquence among the wise in assemblies.' ॥ 3-254-17 ॥

सैष शूरॊ नित्यम अमर्षणश; च धीमान पराज्ञः सहदेवः पतिर मे तयजेत पराणान परविशेद धव्यवाहं; न तव एवैष वयाहरेद धर्मबाह्यम सदा मनस्वी कषत्रधर्मे निविष्टः; कुन्त्याः पराणैर इष्टतमॊ नृवीरः ॥ ३-२५४-१८ ॥
'This valiant warrior, ever unyielding, wise, and discerning—Sahadeva is my husband. He would sooner give up his life or enter the sacred fire than utter a word against righteousness. Steadfast in the warrior’s code, ever resolute, he is dearest to Kunti, cherished above her very life.' ॥ 3-254-18 ॥

विशीर्यन्तीं नावम इवार्णवान्ते; रत्नाभिपूर्णां मकरस्य पृष्ठे सेनां तवेमां हतसर्वयॊधां; विक्षॊभितां दरक्ष्यसि पाण्डुपुत्रैः ॥ ३-२५४-१९ ॥
'When the sons of Pāṇḍu have slain thy warriors in battle, thou shalt behold thy army like a ship wrecked at sea, its treasures lost upon the back of a mighty whale.' ॥ 3-254-19 ॥

इत्य एते वै कथिताः पाण्डुपुत्रा; यांस तवं मॊहाद अवमन्य परवृत्तः यद्य एतैस तवं मुच्यसे ऽरिष्टदेहः; पुनर्जन्म पराप्स्यसे जीव एव ॥ ३-२५४-२० ॥
'Thus have I described to thee the prowess of the Pāṇḍavas, whom, in thy folly, thou hast chosen to disregard. If thou escape unscathed from them, it shall be as if thou hast been granted a new lease on life.' ॥ 3-254-20 ॥
