किं रॊदिषि तवं पतिता धरण्यां; किं ते मुखं शुष्यति दीनवर्णम कच चिन न पापैः सुनृशंस कृद भिः; परमाथिता दरौपदी राजपुत्री अनिद्य रूपा सुविशालनेत्रा; शरीरतुल्या कुरुपुंगवानाम ।। ३-२५३-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Why dost thou weep, lying upon the ground? Why is thy face so sorrowful and drained of color? I hope no cruel wretches have wronged Princess Draupadi— She, of incomparable beauty and wide, enchanting eyes, Who is as dear as life itself to each of those mighty Kurus.' ।। 3-253-11 ।।

english translation

kiM ròdiSi tavaM patitA dharaNyAM; kiM te mukhaM zuSyati dInavarNama kaca cina na pApaiH sunRzaMsa kRda bhiH; paramAthitA daraupadI rAjaputrI anidya rUpA suvizAlanetrA; zarIratulyA kurupuMgavAnAma || 3-253-11 ||

hk transliteration

यद्य एव देवी पृथिवीं परविष्टा; दिवं परपन्नाप्य अथ वा समुद्रम तस्या गमिष्यन्ति पदं हि पार्थास; तथा हि संतप्यति धर्मराजः ।। ३-२५३-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'So deep is the anxiety of Dharma’s son that if the princess has vanished into the earth, soared to the heavens, or plunged into the ocean’s depths, he and his brothers will surely follow her there.' ।। 3-253-12 ।।

english translation

yadya eva devI pRthivIM paraviSTA; divaM parapannApya atha vA samudrama tasyA gamiSyanti padaM hi pArthAsa; tathA hi saMtapyati dharmarAjaH || 3-253-12 ||

कॊ हीदृशानाम अरिमर्दनानां; कलेशक्षमाणाम अपराजितानाम पराणैः समाम इष्टतमां जिहीर्षेद; अनुत्तमं रत्नम इव परमूढः न बुध्यते नाथवतीम इहाद्य; बहिश्चरं हृदयं पाण्डवानाम ।। ३-२५३-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'Who could be so foolish as to seize that priceless jewel—the beloved Draupadi—who belongs to the mighty and ever-victorious sons of Pandu, those grinders of foes, and is as dear to them as their own lives? I know not who could be so reckless as to seize that princess, She who is guarded by such mighty protectors, She who is, in truth, the very living heart Of the valiant sons of Pandu.' ।। 3-253-13 ।।

english translation

kò hIdRzAnAma arimardanAnAM; kalezakSamANAma aparAjitAnAma parANaiH samAma iSTatamAM jihIrSeda; anuttamaM ratnama iva paramUDhaH na budhyate nAthavatIma ihAdya; bahizcaraM hRdayaM pANDavAnAma || 3-253-13 ||

कस्याद्य कायं परतिभिद्य घॊरा; महीं परवेक्ष्यन्ति शिताः शराग्र्याः मा तवं शुचस तां परति भीरु विद्धि; यथाद्य कृष्णा पुनर एष्यतीति निहत्य सर्वान दविषतः समग्रान; पार्थाः समेष्यन्त्य अथ याज्ञसेन्या ।। ३-२५३-१४ ।।

sanskrit

'Whose breasts, pierced by terrible shafts, will these arrows strike into the ground today? Do not weep for her, O timid girl, for know that Krishna will return this very day. And the sons of Pritha, having slain their enemies, will once again be reunited with Yajnaseni!' ।। 3-253-14 ।।

english translation

kasyAdya kAyaM paratibhidya ghòrA; mahIM paravekSyanti zitAH zarAgryAH mA tavaM zucasa tAM parati bhIru viddhi; yathAdya kRSNA punara eSyatIti nihatya sarvAna daviSataH samagrAna; pArthAH sameSyantya atha yAjJasenyA || 3-253-14 ||

अथाब्रवीच चारु मुखं परमृज्य; धात्रेयिका सारथिम इन्द्रसेनम जयद्रथेनापहृता परमथ्य; पञ्चेन्द्र कल्पान परिभूय कृष्णा ।। ३-२५३-१५ ।।

sanskrit

'Thus addressed by him, Dhatreyika, wiping her beautiful face, replied to Indrasena, the charioteer: "Disregarding the five sons of Pandu, who are like Indra himself, Jayadratha has forcefully carried away Krishna.' ।। 3-253-15 ।।

athAbravIca cAru mukhaM paramRjya; dhAtreyikA sArathima indrasenama jayadrathenApahRtA paramathya; paJcendra kalpAna paribhUya kRSNA || 3-253-15 ||
