ते सैन्धवैर अत्यनिलौघवेगैर; महाजवैर वाजिभिर उह्यमानाः युक्तैर बृहद्भिः सुरथैर नृवीरास; तदाश्रमायाभिमुखा बभूवुः ॥ ३-२५३-६ ॥
'Thus addressed, those heroic warriors turned toward their abode, Riding splendid chariots drawn by Saindharva steeds, Exceedingly swift, like the force of a hurricane.' ॥ 3-253-6 ॥

तेषां तु गॊमायुर अनल्प घॊषॊ; निवर्ततां मामम उपेत्य पार्श्वम परव्याहरत तं परविमृश्य राजा; परॊवाच भीमं च धनंजयं च ॥ ३-२५३-७ ॥
'As they made their way back, They beheld a jackal on their left, Howling ominously by the wayside. Observing this ill omen, the king pondered deeply, Then turned to Bhima and Dhananjaya and spoke.' ॥ 3-253-7 ॥

यथा वदत्य एष विहीनयॊनिः; शालावृकॊ वामम उपेत्य पार्श्वम सुव्यक्तम अस्मान अवमन्य पापैः; कृतॊ ऽभिमर्दः कुरुभिः परसह्य ॥ ३-२५३-८ ॥
'This jackal, a creature of the lowest order, Howling from our left, speaks an omen clear— The sinful Kurus, showing us no regard, Have begun to oppress us with ruthless force.' ॥ 3-253-8 ॥

इत्य एव ते तद वनम आविशन्तॊ; महत्य अरण्ये मृगयां चरित्वा बालाम अपश्यन्त तदा रुदन्तीं; धात्रेयिकां परेष्यवधूं परियायाः ॥ ३-२५३-९ ॥
'After abandoning the chase and speaking those words, The sons of Pandu entered the grove of their hermitage. There, they found Dhatreyika, their beloved queen’s maid, Sobbing and weeping in deep distress.' ॥ 3-253-9 ॥
