[वै] सरॊषरागॊपहतेन वल्गुना; सराग नेत्रेण नतॊन्नत भरुवा मुखेन विस्फूर्य सुवीर राष्ट्रपं; ततॊ ऽबरवीत तं दरुपदात्मजा पुनः ।। ३-२५२-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Though naturally radiant, the daughter of Drupada was now flushed crimson with anger. Her eyes blazed, and her arched brows knit in wrath as she rebuked the ruler of the Suviras, saying—' ।। 3-252-1 ।।

english translation

[vai] saròSarAgòpahatena valgunA; sarAga netreNa natònnata bharuvA mukhena visphUrya suvIra rASTrapaM; tatò 'baravIta taM darupadAtmajA punaH || 3-252-1 ||

hk transliteration

यशस्विनस तीक्ष्णविषान महारथान; अधिक्षिपन मूढ न लज्जसे कथम महेन्द्रकल्पान निरतान सवकर्मसु; सथितान समूहेष्व अपि यक्षरक्षसाम ।। ३-२५२-२ ।।

sanskrit

'Are you not ashamed, O fool, to utter such insulting words about those renowned and formidable warriors, each one akin to Indra himself? They are all dedicated to their duties and never falter, even when facing vast armies of Yakshas and Rakshasas in battle.' ।। 3-252-2 ।।

english translation

yazasvinasa tIkSNaviSAna mahArathAna; adhikSipana mUDha na lajjase kathama mahendrakalpAna niratAna savakarmasu; sathitAna samUheSva api yakSarakSasAma || 3-252-2 ||

hk transliteration

न किं चिद ईड्यं परवदन्ति पापं; वनेचरं वा गृहमेधिनं वा तपस्विनं संपरिपूर्ण विद्यं; भषन्ति हैवं शवनराः सुवीर ।। ३-२५२-३ ।।

sanskrit

'O Sauvira, good men never speak ill of learned individuals who are devoted to austerities and endowed with wisdom, whether they live in the wilderness or in houses.' ।। 3-252-3 ।।

english translation

na kiM cida IDyaM paravadanti pApaM; vanecaraM vA gRhamedhinaM vA tapasvinaM saMparipUrNa vidyaM; bhaSanti haivaM zavanarAH suvIra || 3-252-3 ||

hk transliteration

अहं तु मन्ये तव नास्ति कश चिद; एतादृशे कषत्रिय संनिवेशे यस तवाद्य पातालमुखे पतन्तं; पाणौ गृहीत्वा परतिसंहरेत ।। ३-२५२-४ ।।

sanskrit

'It is only wretches, as base as you, who do so. I believe there is no one in this assembly of Kshatriyas who is capable of holding your hand to prevent you from falling into the pit you are digging beneath your own feet.' ।। 3-252-4 ।।

english translation

ahaM tu manye tava nAsti kaza cida; etAdRze kaSatriya saMniveze yasa tavAdya pAtAlamukhe patantaM; pANau gRhItvA paratisaMhareta || 3-252-4 ||

hk transliteration

नागं परभिन्नं गिरिकूट कल्पम; उपत्यकां हैमवतीं चरन्तम दण्डीव यूथाद अपसेधसे तवं; यॊ जेतुम आशंससि धर्मराजम ।। ३-२५२-५ ।।

sanskrit

'In hoping to vanquish King Yudhishthira, the just, you are truly hoping to separate, with a stick in hand, from a herd roaming in the Himalayan valleys, its leader, as massive as a mountain peak, with the blood dripping down from his torn temples.' ।। 3-252-5 ।।

english translation

nAgaM parabhinnaM girikUTa kalpama; upatyakAM haimavatIM carantama daNDIva yUthAda apasedhase tavaM; yò jetuma AzaMsasi dharmarAjama || 3-252-5 ||
