बाल्यात परसुप्तस्य महाबलस्य; सिंहस्य पक्ष्माणि मुखाल लुनासि पदा समाहत्य पलायमानः; करुद्धं यदा दरक्ष्यसि भीमसेनम ॥ ३-२५२-६ ॥
'In your childish folly, you are rousing a mighty lion from his slumber, only to pluck the hair from his face! However, when you see Bhimasena in wrath, you will be forced to flee!' ॥ 3-252-6 ॥

महाबलं घॊरतरं परवृद्धं; जातं हरिं पर्वत कन्दरेषु परसुप्तम उग्रं परपदेन हन्सि; यः करुद्धम आसेत्स्यसि जिष्णुम उग्रम ॥ ३-२५२-७ ॥
'Your attempt to court combat with the furious Jishnu is akin to kicking a mighty, terrible, full-grown lion that sleeps in a mountain cave. The confrontation you speak of with those two excellent youths—the younger Pandavas.' ॥ 3-252-7 ॥

कृष्णॊरगौ कीक्ष्ण विषौ दविजिह्वौ; मत्तः पदाक्रामसि पुच्छ देशे यः पाण्डवाभ्यां पुरुषॊत्तमाभ्यां; जघन्यजाभ्यां परयुयुत्ससे तवम ॥ ३-२५२-८ ॥
'It is like the act of a fool who wantonly tramples on the tails of two venomous black cobras with bifurcated tongues. You dare to challenge the two best of men, the noble Pandavas, who are as fierce and formidable as the two deadly serpents.' ॥ 3-252-8 ॥

यथा च वेणुः कदली नलॊ वा; फलन्त्य अभावाय न भूतये ऽऽतमनः तथैव मां तैः परिरक्ष्यमाणम; आदास्यसे कर्कटकीव गर्भम ॥ ३-२५२-९ ॥
'The bamboo, the reed, and the plantain bear fruit only to wither and perish, never to grow any further. Just as the crab brings about its own destruction, you will bring harm upon yourself by challenging me, for I am protected by these mighty heroes!' ॥ 3-252-9 ॥

[जयद] जानामि कृष्णे विदितं ममैतद; यथाविधास ते नरदेव पुत्राः न तव एवम एतेन विभीषणेन; शक्या वयं तरासयितुं तवयाद्य ॥ ३-२५२-१० ॥
'Jayadratha replied, 'I know all this, O Krishna, and I am well aware of the prowess of those princes. However, you cannot frighten us with these threats.'' ॥ 3-252-10 ॥
